Enclosure Construction
We recommend that you build your enclosure out of MDF (Not OSB or Chip Board) or Baltic birch that is at least ¾" thickness. For High Power SPL applications or baffles we recommend you at least double layer to prevent flexing while in use. All seams and corners must be air tight and glued or caulked to ensure a proper seal. If your box is larger and you have a span of more than 16" to 18" long it is recommended that you brace it to eliminate cracking or flexing. Make sure all bracing is glued and screwed down for best results. When using screws be sure to pre-drill holes to avoid splitting the MDF, this is not needed with Baltic birch, but recommended.
Tips
If you use multiple subwoofers in your system that are powered by different amplifiers it is recommended that you have separate chambers for each subwoofer. We recommend separate chambers for any 4th or 6th order band pass regardless of single or multiple amplifier installation.
Double check your calculations! If your enclosure is too large this could damage the driver or if too small it could degrade performance.
For rear subwoofer venting – make sure you have at least 1" to 2" between the back of the driver and the enclosure wall.
Make sure there is clearance in the front of the driver to avoid the surround and cone hitting or rubbing against any objects.
Always use both coils on your driver, only using one will decrease power handling.
Do not block the front of your subwoofers or port.
Make sure to set the SSF and LPF before use.
Allow the driver a few days to a week break in before full volume use.
