Description

The I Series Sub woofers from Incriminator Audio were designed with the entry level consumer in mind. Rated at a very conservative 300 watts RMS, the large voice coil and magnet structure of this line of drivers give entry level a new meaning. Other entry level sub woofers are designed with cosmetics in mind, hoping to prey on inexperienced users, but not the I Series. It was designed strictly for performance and functionality. The consumers money isn't wasted on flashy parts and useless lighting. Instead the I Series owner is getting a reliable, strong, solid sub-woofer that is very loud and produces clean sounding tight bass that one would expect to hear from a much higher priced line of sub woofers. The I Series line of sub woofers is offered in 8", 10", and 12" models and all have the option of dual 2 or dual 4 ohm voice coils.

The Incriminator Audio competitor of the Month for May is Kyle Aronow!  We are expanding our competition team with the help of our team organizer David Montgomery and Kyle is one of our newest members.  Kyle may be new to our team but he is not a young blood.  He has been around the circuit for many years.  We asked Kyle to tell us a little bit about himself and his car audio experience.
I was born January 30, 1974 and raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where at 15 years of age I found my passion of electronics in car audio.   I am a father of two, Hannah and Jacob Aronow and married to Maria Aronow, where we currently reside in Englewood, Colorado actively raising an audio enthusiast 5 year old, Able.  I owned and operated, Audio Creation in Parker, Colorado from 1999 to 2005 until an arson/burglar ruined the business.  After the fire, I stepped away from car audio and was employed by Integrated Surgical Sciences, Corp. (ISSC) as the Operations Manager, where I met my wife Maria.
I have been competing for over 15 years in various classes/cars/builds and have been an active member and show promoter/judge of dB Drag since 2001.  I held events at Audio Creations with Team ATAC until 2006 and have traveled far and wide competing.  Once Maria and I bought our home in January of 2013, we converted the garage into a small home based shop, Correct Alternative.  We offer alarms, remote starts, lighting, electrical diagnostics, specialize in advanced wiring projects and higher end custom installs.  It was here Maria and I built our 2002 Mazda Protege 5 into a Street Stock 1K and took it all the way to 2nd place at 2014 dB Drag Finals, North American Competitors.
I compete with my 1991 Honda CRX DX, with a blue, black and silver color scheme Plasti Dipped in Blue Flex and IA decals.  The specs are as follows: Big 3 Stinger wiring upgrade 1/0 gauge, Stinger 2-Channel 9000 Series Interconnect RCA Cable, 250 Sq. Ft. Stinger Road Kill (100% coverage), Custom seats made of Vinyl.  Stock 60 Amp Alternator (modified), Optima Blue Top Battery (soon to be XS Power), Kenwood Excelon DDX5902 deck, Kenwood Excelon Component system in front, 7" Kenwood Excelon Coaxial in rear, an IA 10.1 Amplifier, and an IA Death Penalty 21" sub woofer with standard dust cap, Enclosure 1= 8 Cubic Ft. 11:1 Ported Enclosure, Enclosure 2= 8.25 Cubic Ft. 10:1 Ported Enclosure (still in design/test mode).

What is Impedance?

Impedance is the property of a speaker that restricts the flow of electrical current through it.  Impedance is measured in units called ohms. Most sub woofers have a rated impedance of 1 ohm, 2 ohms or 4 ohms.  When thinking of impedance, think of resistance. The higher the impedance the more resistance is created, therefore less power can be produced from an amplifier.

Two reasons why ohms matter?

(1) Your amplifier can be damaged if you connect it through the wrong speaker impedance.   Amplifiers can be damaged if the speaker impedance is too low. More power is consumed in the amplifier than what is delivered to the speakers often causing your amp to overheat.  Poor tone and weak output are the results of an impedance that is too low.
(2) The amplifier will deliver maximum power to the speaker when the speaker impedance matches the amplifiers output impedance.  If the speaker impedance is too high, the amplifier will not perform its maximum power output.

Series vs. Parallel Wiring:

It is necessary to wire your sub woofers in configurations in order to properly match your amplifiers impedance capabilities.  There are basically two ways to wire speakers; Series and Parallel .  Typically the Series wiring configuration is used to increase the impedance, doing so will double the impedance.  The Parallel wiring configuration is used to reduce the impedance and it will effectively half your impedance.  For the larger more advanced systems, you can combine both Series and Parallel connections to achieve you desired net impedance.

The following diagrams show the different wiring configurations that can be used to get to your desired impedance load:

We hope to see you at Slamology 2015.  Here is a blast from the past from Incriminator's own Beau Boren at Slamology in 2012!
